From the Skipper:
I would like to share my sailing and cruising experience with other sailors. The expedition boat is a classic Lapworth design, Islander 44. The boat is prepared with many redundant systems for safety and comfort. Over the last nine years this boat has been continually restored. It is a pride of ownership boat and does receive an occasional unsolicited remark on her pleasing looks/ lines. Many Lapworth designed boats have completed offshore voyaging and are still active and on the water today.
The expedition boat is great for learning, it's not too large a boat requiring multiple hands, nor is it intimidating for a new sailor. The boat is very forgiving which makes it a good platform to improve skills. This boat can easily be sailed by a double handed crew or singlehanded (by a more experienced sailor). In addition the boat is valued closer to an average couple's investment in a cruising boat.
